Heartsparkle Players Public Performance Schedule
2007-2008

Playback Theatre is a spontaneous collaboration between performers and audience. People tell moments from their lives, then watch them re-created with movement, music and dialogue.

Each month we invite a guest artist, community organization, arts program or social service agency to be part of our performance. Through this collaboration we acknowledge and honor the work individuals and organizations do in our community.

Children are always welcome - they need to be comfortable with sitting for about an hour and a half and you need to be comfortable with the theme of the evening. All performances are on Fridays (except our February performance) at 7:30pm.

(downtown Olympia on the corner of 5th and Water)

Cost: $5.00 to $10.00 (No one is turned away and group rates available)

October 12, 2007	*Stories of Gratitude* A thank you from the Heartsparkle Players for the support our community gave us to attend the International Playback Theatre Conference in Brazil this last August.
November 9 , 2007	*Stories of Embracing Difference* In collaboration with De Colores, a bookstore of many cultures that aims to provide a source for multicultural books, a community meeting place, and educators resources.
December 14, 2007	*Stories of Finding Home* In collaboration with Camp Quixote, an independent free-form tent city in Olympia, formed by the Poor People's Union, who believe shelter, dignity and mental and physical health to be basic human entitlements.
January 11, 2008	*Stories of Parenting Hard Times* In collaboration with POWER - Parents Organizing for Welfare and Economic Rights (formerly WROC) a group who use direct action and popular education to achieve social and economic justice for parents and children.
February 15, 2008	*Stories of Our Heart's Desire* In collaboration with The Thunders an ensemble of Playback performers.
March 14, 2008	Stories of the Power of Knowledge in collaboration with Mason County Literacy which assists adults in learning English, completing GEDs and improving literacy skills in Mason and Thurston counties.
April 11 , 2008	Stories of Missed Connection in collaboration with Hearing Loss Association of Washington (HLA-WA), a nonprofit organization which opens the world of communication to people with hearing loss by providing information, education, support and advocacy.
May 9, 2008	Stories of Being Resourceful in collaboration with Olympia Salvage whose mission is to promote environmental sustainability, to divert building materials from the waste stream, and to provide affordable alternatives to the consumption of our limited resources.

Workshops

The Heartsparkle Players can work with you to develop workshops and performances for all ages using Playback Theatre and other interactive theatre techniques. These events are experiential and informational emphasizing creative exploration, building empathy, and compassion, deep listening and skill-building.Topics for teens can include: Conflict Resolution; Dating Violence; Decision-Making; Sexual Identity; Bullying; Diversity, Grief and Loss and Sexual Harassment.

These workshops work well with teens who do not want to be given the answer, but instead want to be guided in expressing their thoughts, opinions, and feelings so that they can make positive choices for themselves.

Topics for adults can include: Team Building; Diversity; Grief and Loss; Life Transitions and Work and Family Issues.
